Legal Basis for Preparation and Publication of Manuscripts

Works of science (scientific papers) are protected by international and Russian copyright laws. A scientific paper is intellectual property and the subject matter of copyright protection.

Pleiades Publishing, Inc.; Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.; and Allerton Press, Ltd., publishers of scholarly content in the English language, notify the authors of the following important issues in manuscript preparation:

1. The publishers undertake translation into English, publication, and distribution of English-language papers of their journals (that is, the use of results of intellectual activity) only upon signing of copyright transfer agreements. These agreements should be filled out, signed and submitted by the authors to the editorial board of a journal.
2. If authors borrow or adopt content (illustrations, quotations, tables, etc.) from other sources, they should receive permission from the copyright holders for the use of this content. A copy of written permission should be submitted together with the manuscript.
3. References to the sources of borrowed or adopted content must be given in a manuscript in all cases.
4. Before submission of a manuscript, authors should familiarize themselves with the conditions for publication of papers in a specific journal, including the guidelines for authors and the Statements on compliance with ethical standards and standards of research involving humans and animals. The publishers discourage the authors from submitting a manuscript if the authors do not comply with the requirements of these documents.
5. If the authors who submit their manuscript in Russian refuse manuscript translation into English and its further publication and distribution in the English language, they should notify the editorial board in writing.
6. Editorial boards consider only original manuscripts that have not been published in English or other languages. Otherwise the publishers reserve the right to withdraw or retract the article and require the authors to restitute all relevant losses.

The editorial boards of journals do not accept manuscripts without copyright transfer agreements.

To simplify interaction between author(s) and publisher, please submit copyright transfer agreements (in the Russian or English language) together with the manuscript to the editorial board of the respective journal. The copyright transfer agreement can be sent as a digital copy of the original (this is preferable) or as a paper copy. The copyright transfer agreement should be filled out using MS Word or hand-printed and signed by all authors (coauthors and copyright holders).

Links to standard forms of copyright transfer agreements are given below. These agreements are contracts of adhesion.

A copyright transfer agreement enters into force if a manuscript is accepted for publication in English. If for any reason your article is rejected by the editorial board of a journal, the agreement loses its force. The decision on acceptance of a manuscript for publication is the exclusive right of the editorial board of the respective journal. By signing the agreement, the authors guarantee that they have familiarized themselves and agree with its conditions.

If a manuscript is sent to addresses other than those indicated on journal web pages, it is not regarded as received and will not be returned; no replies should be expected regarding the status of a manuscript.
