Requirements for illustrations

Graphics files should be submitted in the EPS format (Encapsulated
PostScript) for all the types of illustrations including bitmap graphics.

Uniformity of size and appearance of all the illustrations of the same
type should be strictly observed.

White space widths should be 1 mm at most.

Line widths should not be less than 0.5 pt.

In case any scaling would be needed at page makeup, scaling up or down
should be 20% at most (scale=0.8).

All PostScript fonts used in notations and inscriptions for an
illustration should be embedded in a file. (Only two standard
fonts, Courier É Helvetica, may not be embedded).

Inscriptions for an illustration should not touch any part of it.

Ticks should be directed inside and figures at axes should be on the outside.

Usual size of all inscriptions is 10 pt. However, in complicated cases,
when there is limited space for inscriptions, the sizes of 9 pt and
even 8 pt are allowed. It is important that the inscriptions of the
same order are typed with the font of a similar size.

Sizes of standard marks (simple circles, squares, triangles, etc.)
should not exceed 2 mm. Symbol size should be chosen in such a way
that after scaling an image, their final size is be about 10 pt.

The numbers of curves, straight lines, etc., should be written in italics
without any brackets both at an illustration and in text. Notations of
the parts of an illustration (a, b, etc.) should be written in upright
font in round brackets and placed in one horizontal (or vertical) direction.
They are usually placed either above or under the corresponding parts
of an illustration.

For bitmap graphics, optimal resolution is 600 dpi, for photos - 300 dpi.
The resolutions given are considered to be after scaling.
Inscriptions
In inscriptions, when the parameters of a curve are listed, the numbers
of curves and notations of the parts of an illustration (a, b, etc.)
should be placed in brackets prior to the corresponding parameters
(a dash is not used). The numbers of curves are written in italics.
Parameter dimension (if any) is given once after the last of them.
Example:
