Abstract

A deep 21 cm radio survey of the Lynx 2 field selected from the Leiden-Berkeley Deep Survey areas is presented. The observations, data reduction, and the source sample and its completeness are described, and the source counts are presented. The angular size statistics are discussed, and the present observations are compared with earlier VLA observations of the same area and a comparable sensitivity. A systematic position difference as a function of distance to the field center is found that probably results from uncertainties in the map to sky coordinate conversion for VLA positions at large distances from the field center. The absolute uncertainties in the coordinate frame and flux scale are determined, as well as the signal-to-noise dependent error distribution. A number of possible variable sources in the map are presented.
