Development of a scintillation detectors based on the SiPM matrices: current status and prospects for the large volume neutrino detectors

Abstract

      The matrices of silicon photomultipliers (SiPM) are promising multichannel photosensors for scintillation detectors. They can be used to reconstruct tracks of relativistic particles inside the detectors. The paper presents the first developments of detectors with direct contact of the SiPM matrices with the surface of a scintillation detector and with the use of Fresnel lenses, and also promising variants for large detectors of neutrino astrophysics and geophysics are proposed.
