International Conference "Magnetic Stars"

Special Astrophysical Observatory, Russia
August 27 – September 1, 2010

The Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences held a traditional International meeting “Magnetic Stars” during the period from August 27 to September 1, 2010.

The meeting took place in the Special Astrophysical Observatory in Nizhnij Arkhyz near Zelenchukskaja of the Karachai-Cherkess Republic of Russia in the North Caucasus mountains (near the Russian 6m telescope).

The programm of the conference was traditional:

  • wide range of problems connected with magnetic fields of the chemically peculiar and related stars,
  • analysis of the chemical composition and stratification of elements,
  • Doppler-Zeeman mapping,
  • spectral and photometric variability,
  • the theory of formation and maintenance of magnetic fields in stars of differents spectral classes,
  • the theory of propogation of polarized emision in an anisotropic medium,
  • problems of astronomic instrument making.
